Egypt's Desert in Ancient Times

GALLERY

You will explore the Libyan Desert of Egypt, one of the driest and most expansive desert areas of the world, near Kharga and Bagdad Oases. You will experience its vastness in the company of the local Bedouin You will visit remote ancient sites by camel, car and on foot. An unforgettable and original experience for the adventurous traveler

Our base camp in the desert is located near Baghdad Oasis at 250km from Luxor. Here we will be hosted by the Sharariet, a local Bedouin tribe. Accommodation is in large furnished tents and the base camp offers 'bath-tent' facilities. We offer a 7 day program during which we will follow ancient caravan routes and visit old cities and temples that have been deserted centuries ago. We will travel through the sand-dunes west of the oases, ascent the 300m high escarpment and will experience the impressive vastness of the Libyan Plateau.

We will travel in total 4 days by camel, of which we will trek 3 successive days and sleep 2 nights without facilities under the stars. Our caravan will have pack camels and a riding camel for every guest. Small sections, depending on the environment, we will have to walk. Off course the whole trekking can be done hiking when preferred.
